Mexia Baptist Church Associate Pastor
of Music/Senior Adults

Principal Function                   
The minister of music / senior adults is responsible to the pastor and Mexia Baptist Church for the total ministry of the church

Responsibilities            

  • Be aware of the Holy Spirit’s guidance in preparing for each worship service.
  • Direct the organization and implementation of a comprehensive church music program including choir, vocal or instrumental ensembles, and drama teams.
  • Assist the pastor in planning church services and responsible for music selection.
  • Serve as leader of worship services, directing congregational and choir singing and other phases of the worship service.
  • Oversee audio/visual program with volunteers.
  • Work with nominating committee to enlist and train leaders for the music ministry.
  • Serve as a member of the Church Council and leadership team.
  • Serve and work on other church committees as assigned.
  • Lead the Senior Adult Ministry.
  • Plan and direct the children’s music program.
  • Plan and promote concerts, choir tours, retreats, festivals, workshops, clinics, mission trips, and other special programs to enhance the music ministry.
  • Oversee purchases and maintenances of the music library, materials, supplies, instruments, and other equipment essential for the music ministry.
  • Prepare proper reports to keep church informed concerning the music ministry.
  • Prepare an annual music budget reflecting the overall music needs of the church and administrate that budget once approved.
  • Assist other staff members in church-wide events as needed.
  • Assist in the selection and presentation of appropriate music for weddings, funerals, and other church-related activities.
  • Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotional ideas, and administrative techniques.
  • Be informed of denominational goals, emphases, publications, policies, and plans for using them as they relate to Mexia Baptist Church. Cooperate with associational and state leaders in promoting areas of mutual interest.
  • Give direction to and participate in a plan of visitation and enlistment.
  • Work with the pastor in performing the regular ministerial functions of the church such as hospital visitation, outreach visitation, ministry to shut-ins, teaching and other functions deemed necessary by the pastor.
